This division is responsible for the timely production of demographic and
vital statistics from decennial Population and Housing Census, Inter-censal
Demographic Survey and Vital Statistics.
Main indicators produced are the:
Population size, age and sex composition, growth rate, sex ratio,
population density, , marital status, citizenship, main language spoken at
home, average household size, head of household by sex, literacy rate,
school attendance, school-age enrolment rate, employment rate and unemployment
rate, orphanhood, disability, fertility and mortality rates, internal
migration, economically active and economically inactive population, sources of
water , toilet facility, source of energy for cooking/heating and lighting,
source of household income and own agriculture activities.
Currently the division does not compile vital statistics from the civil
registration because the system is under creation but estimates on vital
statistics are made from censuses and surveys data.
